Dr Emmanuel Ngcobo
CIGFARO President
Dr Emmanuel Ngcobo is the President of CIGFARO. An experienced public servant in local government, particularly in the field of financial management, organisational systems & structures.
He is also the chairperson of the Centre for Municipal Asset Management (CMAM) and his also part of the Advisory Board at the Durban University of Technology (DUT).
Dr Ngcobo has published two books under his belt namely,
1. The Road to CFO Position and
2. Fostering excellence in municipal asset management practice guide.
He is currently embarking on writing two others (Local Government Revenue Management and Auditing Municipal Assets). He has written & presented related papers at National & International conferences.
His main passion remains in the development of the next calibre of credible and competent public servants.
Patrick Mathobo
CIGFARO CEO
Nakisani Mathobo CEO of CIGFARO holds a master’s in business administration (MBA) graduate from Henley Business School (University of Reading, UK), specializing in Strategy, Leadership, International Business, Financial Management, Marketing, Managing Resources, and People Management.
His areas of focus include quantitative analysis and project management, with an emphasis on implementing and managing sound corporate governance practices and policies. He adds value to organizations through a well-rounded educational foundation, personal qualities such as commitment and initiative, and a drive to help organizations reach their goals while fostering leadership and team-building skills.
Vonani Chauke
Auditor- General of South Africa (AGSA)
Vonani Chauke is the deputy auditor-general of South Africa, a role he has been occupying since July 2021 as the latest in his 25-year auditing career. Vonani is a well-rounded professional, with comprehensive audit experience in both the public and private sectors. Before joining the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA), he was partner/director at audit firms Deloitte and SNG Grant Thornton, occupying various leadership roles. He has also been involved in the broader auditing profession, having served as board member of the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa for over a decade, ultimately as chairman.
Vonani is a passionate proponent of the enabling role of technology in auditing. Bringing this to the supreme audit institution (SAI) of South Africa has been one of his key focus areas since joining the organisation. This has seen him spearhead the AGSA’s digitisation journey, through implementing initiatives such as its audit software project and increasing data analytics coverage. Real-time audits is another space in which Vonani believes technology can act as a key enabler and help the AGSA create shared value – by executing audits more efficiently, creating greater transparency, and strengthening the control environments of auditees.
