To promote the interests of finance and related professionals in the Public Sector and protect the interests of the public through strict enforcement of the Code of Conduct by:

• Developing and registering appropriate qualifications.
• Registering qualifying professionals as members.
• Renewing members’ registrations on an ongoing basis.
• Assessing and promoting programmes at institutions of higher learning.
• Regulating activities through the Code of Conduct and disciplinary procedures.
• Monitoring continuing professional development.
• Developing practical guidelines, process improvements and best practices.
• Making submissions regarding existing and proposed legislation.

Research and legislative commentary

To consider and, where necessary, research and comment on existing and proposed legislation affecting the Public Sector in the Republic.

Professional collaboration

To cooperate with professional bodies that aim to improve and enhance public finance and governance in the Republic and internationally.

Advisory support

To advise National and Provincial Government, related institutions and recognised national associations on matters affecting the public sector.

Knowledge-sharing platforms

To provide opportunities and platforms for members to exchange views, professional knowledge and best practices.

Public sector research

To undertake research into Public Sector finance and governance to promote efficiency and strengthen the available body of professional knowledge.
