The Chartered Institute of Government Finance, Audit & Risk Officers, previously known as IMFO, was established in 1929 in terms of the Companies' Act as a Non-Profit Company. Its objective is to promote the interests of finance and related professions in the public sector. CIGFARO is a South African Qualifications Authority recognised professional body for financial management in the public sector.
